Sagefrost stumbled quietly to Shadowfur's side, exhausted by the days events- there was no way for her to make it to the moonstone. Pushing her nose into his cold, death-smelling fur, she screwed her eyes tightly shut.
StarClan, Shadowfur, anyone, help me! I need your advice! CloudClan has no leader, few members........ should we go to our allies, LightClan, for help? Show me the way! With that last thought, she sank into a light sleep.

He knew his words seemed cryptic, but, in his heart, Shadowfur knew that his beloved Clan would succeed.

Peering out from the edge of the nursery, Silentkit gazed in fear at the motionless body of the deputy. Her eyes grew large with grief, and her jaws parted in a soundless wail. She shook out her pelt, and approached the figure on light footsteps. 'Shadowfur, I'll miss you,' she thought, unable to grasp just how bad this was. Was he never coming back?
Sagefrost was asleep next to him, and Silentkit approached her, not wanting to disturb her, but wanting someone to explain. She tucked her haunches underneath her body, and sat back, waiting for the medicine cat to come to.

mosspaw saw Silentkit wander up to Shadowfur's body,her eyes full of greif. She could tell she wanted to know what happened.
" Silentkit, i do not know the whole story, but when I came frm the apprentice den, he was dying. I tried to get Sagefrost, but she was not in her den. he sounded okay when he spoke to me, but then he just died...." Mosspaw trailed off. Mosspaw hoped Silentkit would understand that there was nothing she could do at the time, or now.

Silentkit shook her head, and started towards the body again. She was trembling like a leaf, and grief was evident in her large green eyes. Her jaws parted in another silent mew, and she strained to say something, to speak. She felt suffocated by her emotions, and simply sat there, still as a statue and looking just as stony.
'Is he really dead? This can't be happening,' she thought, wishing again that she could express her emotions with words the way the others could. She also thought of Nightpaw, the Nightpaw she'd heard mentioned by others.
Moving up to Mosspaw, desperation in her eyes, Silentkit's precocious mind had anchored and wrapped itself around the fact that whatever she did would be futile; he really was dead. She pressed her nose to the cold fur, and the familiar scent rushed over her. Crouched forlornly by her fallen father. Silentkit didn't even think of attempting to find Leafkit. She knew that Leafkit would have time enough to grieve.
Small, shuddering mewls, barely audible, came from the small kit, who stayed still, eyes closed, obviously sunken with grief. She could feel her heart beating close to where there never again would be a pulse for Shadowfur, and Silentkit simply let herself give in to the overwhelming emotions.

Leafkit exited the nursey,waking up and noticing that Silentkit was no longer there next to her.She entered the camp clearing and saw her sister next to her motionless father.She hurried over to them,running as fast as she could."What happened ?"she asked out of breath,loud enough for any cat in the camp to hear clearly.

Sagefrost awoke restored- she felt strength flow into her and the fear leave. Thank you Shadowfur! Stretching, Sagefrost looked around camp, knowing order must be restored; she could encourage her Clanmates that all was not lost, but Silverpelt would have to take care of the rest.
Sagefrost's ear twitched when she noticed the tiny bundle pressed against the dead body of Shadowfur- Silentkit! The poor kit, she was shaking like a leaf, but that was to be expected, after all, Shadowfur was her father. Scrambling to her den, she grabbed a few herbs before stumbling back. She nosed Silentkit over, but the cat was not hurt on the outside from any wound, but inside the poor cat was falling apart. Silentkit was shaking uncontrollably and had a slight fever.
Sagefrost looked at the herbs she had brought with her, and began to make a small pile. Feverfew for the fever, a bit of coltsfoot for the kit's shortness of breath, thyme for the stress, and a poppy-seed to put the kit to sleep. Once the pile had been assembled, she pushed them toward Silentkit and whispered softly:
Please, eat these- they will make you feel better.
Sagefrost sat up straight, searching.
Where is Silentkit's mother?

That's when Sagefrost noticed Leafkit; she looked in much better condition than Silentkit. Sagefrost went over and checked Leafkit for fever- she was perfectly healthy.
Leafkit, Sagefrost mewed, your sister isn't feeling all that well; can you help me get her to eat these herbs? And can you find your mother for me?

Mutely, Silentkit nosed the herbs, wrinkling her small nose at the scent, but ate them. She gazed at Shadowfur, and then turned to Leafkit, letting out another soundless mew. She stamped one foot furiously on the ground and tried again.
A soft purling sound came out, but no words. Silentkit blinked and licked up the poppy seed. Swallowing it easily, she tottered away to the center of the camp, eyelids heavy with impending sleep.
Black waves lapped at her vision; Silentkit's head nodded limply, and she curled up like a little ragdoll, limp with exhaustion. She was struggling to keep the fatigue at bay, blinking rapidly and pacing around. The poppy seed was acting quickly, and the tiny kit finally succumbed to the sweet slumber, collapsing, limbs splayed, on the gravel, fevered body at rest while her flank rose and fell rhythmically.
